This is the first piece of a new category on my site, just created today: Unpopular Opinions.
The category’s title, you’ll see, is slightly sarcastic and if you belong to a certain sensitive group of people, see it as a warning: it goes against everything left, far left and the 2010’s and 20’s so called “progressive” (socially regressive) ideas and views. You’ve been warned, it is going to be a shitstorm. At times, there will be too much common sense under this category and true free speech. Not the Californian one, but the real world’s freedom of thoughts and expressions (with no agression involved, of course).
But don’t panic! Please don’t! There is nothing new about this kind of free speech (again, without agression and vulgarity, I assure you), it just might feel new, as lately it has been too often attacked, suppressed and labelled with different “progressive” love notes, like…well, if you don’t know with what, just go outside, dare to express an opinion and you’ll understand.
If you don’t like some of the coming pieces I WILL write here down: move on, read something else! But don’t tell me what I am or am not allowed to say, write, sing.
freedom of speech (noun)
The power or right to express one’s opinions without censorship, restraint, or legal penalty.
Unless, of course, it would cause physical harm to anyone in a society or would cause defamation with serious losses as a result. That is, naturally, unacceptable. But being butthurt by an opinion different from another one is not that category, and…no one cares.
It is not hate speech because you aren’t agreed with. In fact, there is not even such a thing as hate speech. Just ask the Supreme Court.
Unless, of course: contains ‘fighting’ words — those which by their very utterances inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace between persons of race, religion and so on. But that is a (fortunately) very narrow scope.
